Lethbridge Judoka Bring Home 31 Medals

The Alberta Provincial Judo Championships were held in Fort Saskatchewan on March 31, 2007. The Lethbridge Kyodokan Judo Club and the University of Lethbridge Judo Club combined forces at the event for an impressive total of 31 medals, including 12 gold, 12 silver and 7 bronze.

Earning provincial titles on the weekend were Tristin B., Matt N., Matt S., Ben N., Brayden G., Dean C., Tim R., Mark R., Nicole T., Colby C. and Hiro Y. Also topping the podium in Ju no Kata were Mika S. and Julia L. (U of L), while Jennifer P. and Racquel A. came in third.

Colby C.was named Best Female Technician for the tournament and Hiro Y. was awarded Best Male Technician for the tournament. Hiro later went on to capture the Grand Championship of the event.

Judo Alberta also presented their awards for the 2006 Judo season. Tyler Boras was named Senior Male Athlete of the Year, Nicole T. received the award for Juvenile Female Athlete of the Year and Hope L. grabbed the IJF Female Athlete of the Year honors.
