2007 Lethbridge Kyodokan Judo Club Junior Tournament

Ryan K. gets his grip
The Lethbridge Kyodokan Judo Club hosted their annual Junior tournament
on the weekend. The locals enjoyed a successful meet picking up a total
of 42 medals, including 12 gold, 18 silver and 12 bronze. For many young
athletes new to the sport this year, this was their first chance at competition
and they put in an excellent showing.
A couple of sister pairs put in big efforts and were rewarded with a trip to the
podium. Skye D. received a gold medal in Junior Girls -42 kg while
younger sister, Shyla picked up a bronze in Junior Girls +42 kg. Also
bringing home bronze medals were Tori Ann (-46 kg) and Brighton (-26 kg)
M.
The Tom Greenway awards were announced and this years recipients were
Meryl Lyn S. of Calgary and Genghis B. of Edmonton.
This closes the regular season for the Lethbridge Kyodokan Judo Club and
Team Alberta judoka will now set their sights on Junior Nationals which
will be held in Moncton, New Brunswick early in July. Later that month, a
group of club members will travel to Japan with Sensei Yosh Senda.
