Lethbridge nets 19 medals on the weekend
The West Edmonton Mall provided an exciting venue for the Edmonton International Judo Championships this past weekend. The two day event boasted more than
500 competitors from across Canada and also included teams from England, Ireland and Wales.
The Lethbridge Kyodokan Judo Club and University of Lethbridge Judo Club sent a contingent of athletes who posted excellent results at the meet. They brought home a total of 19 medals including 6 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze.
In Cadet Boys action, Matt S. (-34 kg) and Tristin B. (-26 kg) topped the podium in their respective categories.
In the Juvenile categories, Kennedy C. and Dean C. led the way, going undefeated in competition on Saturday. Kennedy fought in Juvenile Girls -57 kg, and Dean competed in Juvenile Boys -66 kg. Each fought their way through very competitive divisions.
Saturday’s Senior competition saw Jamie L.
(-81 kg) and Nicole T. (-52 kg) continue their winning ways. They too were unbeatable at the event, picking up gold medals for their efforts.
